COVID-19 Updates

Please make sure you read and understand the new information and waiver below with COVID-19 policies before booking your massage appointment.

Before the Appointment:

  • Please do not make an appointment if you would answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions:

    • Have you had a new or worsening cough?

    • Have you had a fever?

    • Have you had shortness of breath?

    • Have you been in close contact with anyone with these symptoms or anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

You must wait to schedule an appointment until all of your symptoms have been resolved for 72 hours. ​

  • Your appointment reminder email will also ask these questions, and if your answer has changed to a 'yes,' please reschedule your appointment. Click here to see appointment reminder example.

  • If you had contact with a person who was diagnosed with COVID-19, or who is sick with any of the symptoms above, you must wait 14 days before you schedule a massage appointment.

  • Do not make an appointment if you have attended a large group gathering where social distancing was not possible. Standing up for your beliefs is extremely important and should be prioritized, and I ask that you please wait at least 14 symptom-free days to schedule a massage after you’ve attended a large group gathering.

  • If you are sick, please do not come in for your appointment, and stay home. Our Cancellation Policy is always waived due to illness—you will not be charged a session fee if you must cancel or reschedule because you are sick.

  • Please come in showered and with clean clothing, if possible.

At the Appointment:

  • Arrive just 5-10 minutes early and remain in your car until I come get you. I will provide you with a new disposable mask to wear for your session, take your temperature using a touchless thermometer, and ask health screening questions before we enter the studio. Inside, you will wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds before we begin.

  • I will have an informed consent waiver for you to sign. You can read waiver text at the bottom of this page.

  • Please leave all of your personal belongings (except your keys) in your car, including a water bottle. Water will not be available inside the studio, so please bring a personal water bottle and leave it in your car, along with your phone, purse, jacket, etc. Bring only your keys.

  • I am following all state required and recommended health and sanitation guidelines to keep us both safe. Between each client session, the studio treatment space and bathroom are disinfected thoroughly, as well as ventilated with open windows and a HEPA air filter. You will notice that some things in the studio have been moved around or removed to reduce the number of touchpoints and porous surfaces to clean.

  • I am following my guidelines, too. I am also wearing a mask, I wash my hands thoroughly before and after every session, and wear a clean apron and mask for every appointment throughout the day. I take my temperature daily, monitor my own symptoms, and also wear a protective face shield over my mask for close head & neck massage. 


Your health, as well as my own, are my top priorities, so if you have any questions for me about my policies and procedures, please ask. I know there will be more changes in the future as our public health situation evolves, and I am ready to adapt. 

New Office Policies

  • Face masks are required for the entire massage session. I will provide you with a new, disposable face mask (you do not need to bring one), and I will be wearing one, too. I also have positioning suggestions for you while you are on the table to keep you comfortable wearing a mask for your entire appointment.

  • 90-minute sessions are back! I had temporarily suspended the 90-minute sessions, but now you can book both 60-minute and 90-minute sessions online, up to 6 months in advance. (Pediatric sessions for clients less than 16 years old are still suspended.)

  • Prepayment is now required for all appointments, and only contactless forms of payment will be accepted: no cash or checks. If you are making a new appointment online, you’ll be prompted for payment before you can complete your booking. If you have a gift certificate that was purchased at an old rate I will honor it--just contact me for assistance.

  • New clients must email me prior to booking. I want to know that you've read my COVID-19 policies and have been following social distancing guidelines.

Informed Consent Waiver

I understand that close contact with people increases the risk of infection with COVID-19. By signing this form, I acknowledge that I am aware of the risks involved and give consent to receive massage from Kathleen Rhyne, OR LMT #20409.

I understand that if there is a positive COVID-19 case associated with Birch Family Massage, LLC, my contact information may be provided to the county or state health authority to assist with contact tracing.

I understand that Birch Family Massage, LLC has adopted required policy changes and recommended procedures from the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists, and I will comply with these guidelines during my appointment (or choose to reschedule).

I will inform Birch Family Massage, LLC if I or anyone in my household is positively diagnosed with COVID-19.
